It works in Dubai but requires a change in the wiring. I hired a company and paid 350aed for the installation.
There were 2 minor connectivity issues but Ecobee has a live chat. They answered immediately and helped me resolve the issue and it never happened again.

Do not buy this product outside of the USA, you will have nothing but pain, starting from installation, ending with waking up at night, because even though you are able to set your timezone on their web-site’s CP, it will constantly reset to USA anyway and support will not do anything about it.

After using both the Nest and Ecobee Premium thermostats, I’ve found that while the Ecobee wins in terms of screen size and overall appearance, the Nest is significantly smarter and more user-friendly in terms of ease of use and navigation.

Paid a premium for the premium variant to find out it dont work with my AC (2 Wire 240W), professional installation cost AED 1500.00 but if I pay installation more than the product price I am not an engineer.
Finally found and convinced a wholesaler for a single piece of a traslator product from China here in UAE called Dropair for ~AED 750 with inbuilt transformer (24V), installed it myself with the help of a PDF guide saving me purchase of a compatale transformer and professional fee.
Note: to make it work with Smartthings u will need a US account as ecobee works only with US smartthings (just make a new account)

I love this thermostat! It offers a lot of flexibility in terms of temperature control. Additional sensors that can determine if that space is occupied is quite a plus. Also the feature of setting the system to “auto” to let it determine whether to heat or cool is great since we’re now going through that spring cycle of hot one day and cold the next. Also, it has as a large and readable display with a good user interface. And of course, a good app to the manage the thermostat remotely. Well worth the expenditure (which I should recoup over time). Wish I had done this sooner!

I only review products that are extraordinarily bad or incredibly good. This product merits the latter, not just for its programming and control features, but for outstanding customer service.
My dated HVAC system does not have a C wire, which is necessary to power most modern programmable thermostats. Fortunately, this top of the line ecobee thermostat comes with a hack, called a power extender kit. Unfortunately, the power extender kit is not an easy install. That’s where Ecobee‘s amazing customer service comes into play.
For more than an hour, the Ecobee’s customer service rep, using my digital photographs uploaded to the company’s portal, and with clear, highly skilled communication, walked me through the wiring process, not just at the newly mounted thermostat but also deep in the innards of my furnace to mount the power extender.
Keep in mind, time was of the essence, considering the furnace had to be shut down in early January in Chicago. We got it done in an hour or so.
Had Ecobee not been there to walk me through this, I would’ve had to remount the old, persnickety Nest thermostat given the winter time urgency, and call an HVAC guy. I doubt my handyman would’ve had the expertise to mount the power extender kit without help from the company.
The Ecobee with the power extender is not inexpensive but considering the time and cost of fish taping a C wire through the wall to connect to the old furnace, it’s a reasonable price.
If your furnace is like mine and has only four wires leading to the thermostat, chances are you need this.
Bottom line: an excellent product exceeded only by its outstanding customer service!

I really wanted this product to work in Australia, purchased it, got an electrician to help with installation, but unfortunately had no success. However, the seller was very accomodating and helped with offering a full refund. Would highly recommend. Thank you

Despite a sleek design and a well designed app, this device is extremely disappointing. It’s customization is both detailed but very limited, which means it allows you to customize many useless features of your system but then limits the main functions such as fan speed!
Note that this works only in the US. I installed it in the UAE but had to trick it using a US address, which makes its weather-related features useless.
I regret buying this device.
